"Slate is a metamorphic rock derived from an original shale-type sedimentary rock composed of clay or volcanic ash through low-grade regional metamorphism. When "cut" by striking with a specialized tool in the quarry, many slates will form smooth flat sheets of stone which have long been used for roofing, floor tiles and other purposes"

Charcoal Slate is available in the following seven sizes:

° 200mm x 200mm - (8" x 8")
° 200mm x 400mm - (8" x 15¾")
° 400mm x 400mm - (15¾" x 15¾")
° 300mm x 600mm - (11¾" x 23½")
° 400mm x 600mm - (15¾" x 23½")
° 600mm x 600mm - (23½" x 23½")
° 600mm x 900mm - (23½" x 35½")

Thickness - Charcoal Slate is a "Riven" product as such the thickness of each slab is a range from 20mm - 25mm every effort will be made to ensure that you are provided with similar thickness slabs, but this cannot be guaranteed. We do offer a range of 'Hand Cut' Sandstone, Limestone & Granite which have a much more varied thickness range.
