We’ve said it for years: a stove or fireplace in the home makes for an attractive addition – and finally, it seems most of you agree! A recent survey undertaken by Sellingup.com with Populus, one of the UK’s leading market research firms, reveals that 50% of respondents agree that a property would be more desirable to them, as buyers, if it had a stove.

With regards to period fireplaces, typically Victorian or Edwardian style, 46% of respondents said they would like a property with one. The question remains: why the popularity, and will it help to sell your home when it comes to selling-up?

Today, more people enjoy staying in, with many Millennials turning their backs on club culture and opting instead for a more hygge life.

The increasing popularity of stoves is notable, especially since cleaner burning stoves have become more accessible on the market. With a variety of styles available, it isn’t simply a case of one size fits all, with designs ranging from the ultra-modern to traditional, simple and non-descript to centrepieces of your room.
